Blurb
Have you ever fake dated your bodyguard? I don’t recommend it.
Especially if he’s anything like Erik Wilder: former football player, world class know-it-all and unapologetic grump.
To be clear, I didn’t want a bodyguard (hence the fake dating idea). Most days, I can’t figure out why he wants the job either. We drive each other insane, probably because we’re as opposite as two people can be.
He’s suspicious, never talks about his past and has the comfort skills of a cactus. I’m a happily ever after kinda girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life.
Erik’s words might say that the lines have to stay firm between us, but those dark eyes of his? They tell another story when he looks at me.
He’s just as stubborn as I am, but when our fake dating plan starts to feel a lot more real, it’s only a matter of time before his professional walls come crashing down.
I just have to hope my heart doesn’t get buried in the rubble.

Review
Is it possible that the Washington Wolves keep getting hotter? If it’s impossible, I just experienced a miracle.
I thought Logan would forever and always be my favorite Washington Wolves alum, but I was crazy wrong, because my fave is DEFINITELY Erik Wilder.
The Plan follows Lydia Pierson, who has been around football her whole life because her mom, Allie, owns the Washington Wolves and her dad, Luke, used to play QB (See The Bombshell Effect for full story there). She’s feisty, strong-willed, passionate, and knowledgeable about all things football, until an accident caused by her life in the spotlight causes her to hide away from the world. She quietly begins working on a Master’s degree at my alma mater, Gonzaga University (Go Zags!) while she takes a step away from social media fame to refocus on what’s most important her: football and family.
Enter Erik Wilder: her broody, grumpy bodyguard.
At first, Lydia resists. She’s stubborn. She doesn’t *need* a bodyguard/driver. She clings to her independence with closed fists.
But Erik breaks all those walls down the only way he knows how, by watching her and observing what she needs but isn’t saying.
When he sees through her walls, she begins to look for cracks in his. Her persistence stretches beyond the classroom and social media, and Lydia is the first person to penetrate Erik’s own stubborn walls in several years.
When the stubborn walls come down, this relationship goes from dynamic to explosive in the blink of an eye. Their chemistry when they finally crash together is… *chefs kiss* romance novel perfection. It’s everything you want and then some.
After failing to heal from his own heartbreak, Erik helps Lydia heal, and before he knows it, she’s encouraged his own healing, too.
This is a beautiful story about keeping what matters most to you in the forefront of your mind, pursuing your dreams, and taking care to love the people in your life that matter to you. I love Sorensen’s approach to family and acceptance, healing and forgiveness, heartbreak and hope. This book has all of those thing, plus some seriously good chemistry between dynamic characters who grow throughout the entirety of this book.
Obviously, I give this read 5 stars. It’s fabulous. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that another Wilder sibling’s story is in our future!
Rating: 5 stars

Meet Karla Sorensen:
Well, let’s see … I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone’s face, then I’ve done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I’ll love you forever.
