This book gets 2.5 stars from me.

I really wanted to like this book, but at 38% of the way through this nearly 600 page book, and I found myself wondering, “Where is this going to go?”

I got similar vibes to 2022’s “Icebreaker” by Hannah Grace, so if that was your jam, you’ll enjoy this one – with characters that were more tolerable than Icebreaker. There were so many similarities, I’ll just name a few: (fake/quickly resolved) enemies-to-lovers trope, lots of roommates/names, a partner or ex that is jealous and kind of crazy, MMC has a lot of money/FMC doesn’t, FMC has family drama, college hockey, club scenes, roommate drama, need I go on? It’s like this book didn’t really know where it was going when it started.

With that being said, this book had good spice and I believed in their chemistry. I just wish that a few of the scenes and storylines would have been cut out, as it took away from the overall development and arcs of the main characters. This book would’ve been much better if it was cut in half, losing about 300 pages of noise. I also wanted to know about the twist at the end… give me some more. It resolved too easily and without really any explanation as to why it was happening, other than… presumed jealousy?? Guess we’ll never know.

Keelan has big plans for this universe, but I will not be continuing in this series. I didn’t dislike it so much for 2 stars, but there were so many problems, I cannot rate it higher.

I received an ARC of this ebook for my honest review. These thoughts are my own.
